ABOUT THE IMAGE
The name Almeh or Almee (plural Awalim) derives from the Arabic word “Alema” and means “an educated woman” (in song and dance). It is precisely the receipt “education” that made this category extremely refined and privileged, which allowed entry to the most restricted social areas and first of all the highly reserved Harem. Unfortunately, there is a lot of confusion regarding this topic because in the descriptions reported by many authors of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries the figure of Almeh is confused with that of the famous interpreters Ghawazee. The big difference between these two distinct categories of performers is based on the fact that the Ghawazee are to be considered as “popular” performers of low social backgrounds, who performed mainly in street performances, like street vendors in the presence of any public ” paying “. The Almeh, certainly more refined and belonging to a higher social class, performed mainly in the presence of a female audience in the arts of song and dance. Another peculiarity that distinguished them, was the rigid custom of always wearing, unlike the ghawazee, the veil in public places, as well as a different and more “chastened” clothing. The first documented information on the existence in the Egyptian harems of “women musicians” capable of both dancing and singing must be attributed to the writings of the French Savary dating back to 1785.

HOW TO TAKE MEASURES
CHEST: measure the breast circumference at the point of maximum projection.
UNDER BUST: measure the circumference of the bust just below the breast.
SHOULDER: measure the length from a tip of the shoulder to the other shoulder.
SLEEVES: measure the arm starting from the shoulder to the desired length of the sleeve (wrist, just below the elbow or above).
UPPER ARM: measure the arm circumference at its widest point.
WAIST: measure the waist circumference in its narrowest point.
LOW WAIST: measure your waist circumference about 3-4 inches below the navel.
HIPS: Measure the hip circumference at the point of maximum projection.
INSEAM: measure the length from the waist to the front to the back.

The processing tims are variable. I will do my best to respect the delivery schedule, but I can’t always guarantee them.
I ship from Monday to Saturday morning.
